MORPHOGENESE: Chang Dawn MOON

28 Septembre - 21 Octobre 2022

At age five, Moon looked up at a moonless sky and discovered the immensity of the cosmos, lit only by stars and the Milky Way. From that night on, he felt more than he spoke—his works became his language.

His artistic journey explores morphogenesis—the transformation of matter—both at a cosmic scale (COSMOS, CHAOS) and microscopic level (DNA, GENE). Trained as a sculptor, Moon turned to experimental painting: acids, acrylics, and acetone replace traditional materials; brushes give way to compressed air, torches, and water. The matter seems to shape itself.

Recently, he returned to sculpture: abandoned everyday objects—sewing machines, scrap—are transformed into poetic beings, with no function but to astonish.

Moon studied art in Korea and at the Beaux-Arts de Paris. Since 2015, he has regularly exhibited with the SONAMOU artists’ collective in Paris (Korean Cultural Center, Musée Cernuschi, Bastille Design Center, Galerie IBU...) as well as in Nantes, Barcarès, Monaco, Madrid, and Los Angeles.

Artskoco is showing his work until October 21, and at the upcoming Luxembourg Art Week.
