Aryung LEE uses Hanji paper strings and cotton yarn : « My painting is based on the visual memory of a backyard mountain shrine, colorful ribbons, accumulated stones, that used to be my childhood playground. My ribbon can be understood as the colorful ribbons hanging on the tree that I saw back in my childhood, representing the human desire for Life, an umbilical cord symbolizing life. It has been subtly repeated and recycled since the beginning of human nature. The ribbons, therefore, are thought to be the life and process forming a relationship. 'Relations' is the theme and content of my work.”
