Hoon MOREAU
Gravity & The Earth and the Cosmos: “The Earth and the Cosmos”, expands upon the previous work of “Gravity”.
In space, we appear to float but we really fall, like meteors burning through the atmosphere, and provided we survive the fall, we stand up and rely on the solid footing provided by Gravity to move forward physically and with a purpose, a direction. Without Gravity there would be no earth to live on, no sun, therefore no light, no galaxies, nothing. As tiny a force as it is , Gravity permeates the whole cosmos. Gravity also influences , subjectively, our very thoughts and language (“down to earth”, “falling in love”, “uplifting”, “attracted”, etc.).
Hoon MOREAU, graduated from the Seoul National University in Fine Arts in 1991. She completed et a Master’s degree in Interior Architecture and Environmental Design of the Ecole Camondo, Paris in 1998. She exhibits frequently at Artskoco Gallery, Luxembourg, Galleries in Paris, Toulouse and Seoul.

You dream of tangible art, a work in which you can melt, a part of your daily life. An art rooted in the earth and floating in the universe. An art that projects the speed of change while capturing its beauty. Artist Hoon Moreau captures this movement of nature and merges it with our own, human, world.
Born in Seoul in 1967. A graduate of the Fine Arts School of the prestigious Seoul National University in 1991, Hoon Moreau began a Master's degree at the École Camando in Paris (class of 1998), giving her career a Western dimension. After her training, her brilliant career in architecture, notably at Wilmotte & Associés, constituted the second stage of her artistic creation. For 20 years, as a project team leader for museums, palaces, luxury hotels, and private residences, Hoon Moreau has dedicated herself to interior architecture and furniture design. She sketches in her notebooks what will later come to life under her sculptor's hands: works of art.
In 2014, with artistic audacity, Hoon Moreau delved into her inspiration to create a first series of works, functional sculptures that integrate into our daily lives and allow time to leave its mark. Drawings, sketches, drafts, and clay models—Hoon Moreau's creative process is rooted in a reflection on time, relationships, and the complementarity of the elements that make up the world. In an individualistic, globalized society transformed by the Covid-19 pandemic, she allows us to take a step back and delivers a message of hope through her luminous works.
Since 2020, in Épernon, a small town in the Loire Valley, Hoon Moreau has been working with solid oak in her bright studio. She sculpts it, then gives it the depth of Indian ink and adorns it with the delicacy of gold leaf, or with strips of precious wood, crystal, or bronze. Her creations take on a series of increasingly striking forms, embodying an artistic imagination that can permeate our daily lives. Immersed in nature, Hoon Moreau draws inspiration from the living environment that she inhabits, and that inhabits her.
As a contemporary sculptor of the 21st century, Hoon Moreau is part of this wave of artists whose concerns are aimed at raising questions about behavior and social relationships (The "Diaphane" table whose serpentine death the glass ceiling), in a world where the beauties of our planet need more than ever to be highlighted and appreciated (Dolomites series, etc.). Hoon Moreau's works are the materialization of our dreamlike relationships with nature, (culotted poufs, lianas, enchanted doublets, the lake) with others and ourselves and our hopes for the future subject to the forces of gravity, light, the dynamics of the universe and this meticulous and solid balance which governs time. (metaphysics of light, gravity, rock in balance, earth and cosmos).
