Sang Eun Lee addresses the most obvious , yet most misunderstood, defining feature of our living experience : TIME , time elapsed, time felt, time memorised, time flow...
We are forever in the present, which we feel as time quanta , moments, instants, some of which feel shorter than others, time flowing faster as we age, yet time whose essence can't be described ,even by physicists.
Sang Eun Lee says:
" My work visualizes the abstract concept of time by treating the time each person spends in daily life as a unit—reshaped and expressed as a single layer or as multiple layers stacked together. I have been developing a series based on this idea.
The units—fragments or rectangular frames—represent time intervals such as a day (1,440 minutes) or a year (365 days). These layered forms reflect both the accumulation of life experiences and the overlapping nature of time. My work tells stories about our lives through these temporal structures.”
