MEDITATION: Chanmo KANG

20 März - 20 April 2025

Chanmo KANG, a Korean painter, blends Western artistic influences with Eastern philosophy. Initially immersed in Western thought, he later embraced Buddhism, leading to a transformative journey. A pivotal moment occurred in the Himalayas, where he experienced a profound spiritual awakening (satori), realizing the unity between himself and the universe. This revelation radically changed his artistic approach.

His paintings now reflect the vastness of the cosmos and the energy of life, merging towering Himalayan landscapes with vibrant, symbolic colors. Influenced by the Minwha tradition, his works resemble mandalas, designed to evoke meditation and harmony. Each color carries meaning—white for peace, yellow for contemplation, red for fortune, and blue for overcoming obstacles.

Through his art, Chanmo KANG conveys the deep connection between sky and earth, inviting viewers to experience the infinite and find solace in the boundless beauty of the universe.
